The lists, antidotes and solutions to issues that are important is all encompassing. The material can serve as a reminder to gather information that may be important in the future , but more importantly suggestions for communicating when sensitive issues arise. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Bob Bacheler -- Easy to read with actionable information : In The Empowered Caregiver Linda lays out clearly defined checklists, actionable steps, and affirmations that any caregiver can use. Personally, as my wife and I are each dealing with parents who are transitioning to care topics the book covers like "Encountering Resistance" "When Parents Resist All of Your Suggestions" resonated with both my wife and me. A worthy read for anyone with aging parents. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2021 )

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from J.C. -- A comprehensive, practical and accessible guide for children caring for aging parents : I was thrilled to find "The Empowered Caregiver". It's a supremely practical guide to dealing with many of the difficult challenges that arise in caring for aging parents. Each of the 37 chapters -- covering topics such as "Making Home Care Work" and "Money Management" -- is brief and to the point. It's evident that Fodrini-Johnson writes based on a lifetime of experience in elder care. For each topic, she provides a succinct introduction to the challenges that typically arise, along with a checklist of techniques and resources. I especially appreciated the sample scripts that she provides to help the reader broach difficult subjects with a parent. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from J. K. Jones -- A powerful resource : I wish I had this book two years ago when my mother started showing signs of dementia. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Carol Bradley Bursack, Minding Our Elders -- Empower yourself with “The Empowered Caregiver” : “The Empowered Caregiver: Practical Advice and Emotional Support for Adult Children of Aging Parents” by Linda Fodrini-Johnson MA, MFT, CMC is to me, one of the best places for adult children to start educating themselves about what they should know so they are positioned to help their older parents. That said, this book would also be a valuable resource for those of you who are already involved in parent care because there’s always more to know. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from D. Underhill -- Important information for all with Aging Parents! : it would be if adult children used the checklists provided in this book! The information to collect from parents, and for pre-hospitalizations/ hospital discharges... will help you AND the medical staff! This book provides practical information that can be hard to think of when struggling with a parent's illness, as well as strategies to make transitions less emotionally challenging for the parent and the child-caregiver. I will be buying this book for my partner and recommending it to my patients! Thank you Linda! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2021 )
